About

The world is full of water.  In fact, fully 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with the great oceans. This is a whooping 371 million square kilometers. On top of this, there are hundreds of thousands of kilometers of rivers and streams, as well as huge lakes and ponds. As if the oceans, seas, and rivers are not enough, there are also man-made water parks and swimming pools.

All these places are great vacation spots. Beaches from Bora-Bora in French Polynesia to the Seven Mile Beach in the Grand Cayman Island are always fabulous places to get a perfect tan. Whitewater rafting from Alsek River in Alaska to the mighty Zambezi along the Zambia-Zimbabwe border is an adventure you can boast about. Along the way, you can even catch a glimpse of the Smoke that Thunders, that is, the Victoria Falls. There are also water parks that feature water slides, streaming and wave pools, splash pads, and lazy rivers.

If you plan on going to any of these places, you will need a camera. Of course you will want proof that you did not get your tan courtesy of a tanning bed, or that you actually braved roaring white waters and precipitous drops or the 42-meter water slide at Jesolo Beach in Italy. You will want pictures.

Your regular digital cameras, however, whether a point and shoot or an SLR, may not survive water splashes, much less getting submerged in water. Fortunately, there are digital cameras especially designed for wet and wild vacations. Some can handle a few spatters and not much else while others can actually go swimming, snorkeling, and even scuba diving with you.

This site examines and studies these waterproof digital cameras. So, if you are planning a vacation in the world’s waters, and you are looking for a great camera to capture your adventures, explore our site. You may find what you are looking for in these pages.
