There are plenty of digital cameras available in the market that can capture clear photos with excellent color reproduction. They come with high resolution sensors, a wide range of focal lengths, high ISO sensitivity, and a long list of technologically advanced features to help shoot great pictures.
Canon’s PowerShot G11 is one such camera. This is a compact digital camera with a 10.4 megapixel CCD sensor. A 5x optical zoom lens coupled with 4x digital zoom provide a zoom capability of 20x. The lens’s focal length is the equivalent of 28 to 140 mm in a 35 mm format. ISO sensitivity starts at 80 and reaches up to 3200. These features make it a perfect camera for capturing fast-paced subjects such as skiers, surfers, or motocross bikers.
When using the PowerShot G11 in the snow, water, or sand, you run the risk of getting it wet or clogging it up with sand. To avoid this, it is best to encased it the Canon WP-DC34.
This casing is waterproof and can take the PowerShot G11 to depths of 40 meters to capture marine life and sceneries. If it can take water pressure at these depths, rain, snow, and dust are even less of a problem. Also, while on land, it shields the camera from bumps and collisions.
Made of clear polycarbonate, the casing is durable and corrosion-resistant. It provides a clear view of the LCD viewfinder and thus you can access all the camera information you need when shooting. You can also access most camera functions using levers and buttons on the casing.
While you can use the camera’s built-in flash to light up your underwater subjects, it may be insufficient at deeper levels where lighting could be a problem. You can, however, use it as a trigger of a slave external strobe using cable connections running from the strobe to the camera through the casing.
