Fujifilm has joined the bandwagon of camera manufacturers who are rushing to provide a camera suited to the lifestyles of an increasingly adventurous population. No doubt the fitness craze and the TV series Survivor have helped spur the demand for a camera that can take substantial punishment and keep on operating flawlessly in harsh and unusual environments.

The FinePix Z33WP is Fujifilm’s answer to this demand. This camera, which measures 92 (W) x 60 (H) x 20.6 (D) mm, is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. It is also extremely light at 110 grams. In spite of its size, it is durable and waterproof to a depth of 3 meters.

This is a 10 megapixel camera that stores images in JPEG, movies in AVI, and audio in WAVE. It has a 3x optical zoom lens with a focal length equivalent of 35 – 105 mm in a 35 mm camera. Its 2.7-inch LCD screen has a resolution of 230K pixel resolution.

Its high ISO sensitivity at 1600 guarantees bright and clear pictures even under low light conditions. A Picture Stabilization/Anti-Blur Mode corrects camera shake. This minimizes blurred photos. Also, it also boasts of a Face Detection Technology, Automatic Red Eye Removal, Couple and Group Timer Modes, and a One Touch Movie Button.

Like a true point and shoot camera, the FinePix incorporates the new SR Auto, or Automatic Scene Recognition. This allows the camera to recognize six different types of scenes and adjusts focus, exposure, ISO sensitivity, and white balance automatically. In addition to this, there are at least 14 other shooting modes you can choose from including Underwater, Portrait, Landscape, Night, Beach, and Snow.

The FinePix Z33WP comes in five different colors. You can go for the black for a subdued look; or a bright blue, yellow, pink, or green for a more vibrant feel.
